George Fermor, 2nd Earl of Pomfret

He was the eldest son of Thomas Fermor, 1st Earl of Pomfret (1698 – 1753), and Henrietta Louisa née Jeffreys (1698 – 1761), styled Viscount Leominster or Lempster until 1753. He served as a lieutenant in Pearce's Regiment of Horse, an ensign in the 2nd Regiment of Foot Guards, and captain of a company in the 31st Regiment of Foot. After financial troubles where he had to sell items from his country seat, Easton Neston, including sculptures from the Arundel marbles, he became Gentleman of the Bedchamber and later privy counsellor.
