William Seward (1747-1799) was an anecdotist and member of London literary society. The son of a London brewer, he was a member of the circle surrounding Henry and Hester Thrale, and his circle of acquaintance included James Boswell, James Beattie, Frances Burney, and Samuel Johnson.
