Theodosiu was poisioned by his brother-in-law, John Donellan in a murder case which became famous in the United Kingdom. As he had just turned 20, he was entitled to over £200 a year, and in the event of his death this money would go to his sister, the wife of John Donellan - this is presumably the motive. On 2 April 1781, John Donellan was hanged for the murder by poisioning of his brother-in-law.
