Edward Coke, Viscount Coke
(b. Feb. 2, 1719, Norfolk – d. Aug. 31, 1753, Norfolk )
Gender: M
Edward Coke was a Member of Parliament and represented Norfolk from 1741 until 1747, then Harwich from 1747 until his death in 1753. He was the only child of Thomas Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester and Margaret Coke, 19th Baroness de Clifford. On 1 April 1747 he married Lady Mary Campbell (1727-1811) - their courtship and subsequent marriage was supposedly strained and she was reportedly imprisoned by Edward on their wedding night. In 1750 the families came to a settlement wherein Lady Mary Campbell could live with her mother but remain married to Edward Coke. She never used the title Viscountess Coke.
