General Peregrine Bertie was the son of Peregrine Bertie, 2nd Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven. He married twice: firstly to Elizabeth Blundel (d.1743) on 22 May 1735. After her death he married Mary Panton (d.1793) on 27 November 1750 and had six children.
