William Melmoth (c.1710-1799), son of William Melmoth (c.1665/6-1743) and Catherine Holt. Following a brief legal career Melmoth became a Man of Letters. He lived in Ealing, now West London, before moving to Bath from 1762. He was married first to Dorothy King (d. 1761), daughter of academic William King (1685-1763) and secondly to widow Mrs Ogle.
