Richard Terrick (1710-1777), born in York, was a Church of England clergyman and Bishop of Peterborough (1757-1764) and London (1764-1777). A member of George III's inner circle, Terrick appears to have been an enthusiastic reader of James Beattie's Essays (1774), and appears in the subscription list for the 1776 edition, where he contributed for 5 copies.
