George Augustus Eliott (1717-1790) was a British army officer who served with distinction during the Seven Years’ War and commanded the garrison during the siege of Gibraltar from 1779-1783. In 1787 he was made 1st Baron Heathfield. He was renowned for being abstemious, his diet consisting of vegetables, biscuit and water.
