Elizabeth Wastell was the daughter of John Wastell of Tower Hill. She married General Philip Honywood (c1710-1785), a general in the British army who saw active service at the battle of Dettingen and during the Jacobite Rising in 1745. He was MP for Appleby from 1754-1784. They lived at Marks Hall, a Jacobean mansion at Coggeshill in Essex (demolished in 1950). Their only child died aged nineteen.
