Jean-Francois de Rozier

Rozier (1754-1785) was a pioneer of aviation, and made the first manned balloon flight on 21st November 1783. He accompanied Joseph Montgolfier on a second flight on 19th January 1784. He died on 15th June 1785 when his balloon crashed during an attempt to fly across the English Channel, a feat that had been achieved by Jean-Pierre Blanchard on 7th January 1785.
