Anne Stanley, daughter of George and Sarah Stanley, married Welbore Ellis, later Lord Mendip (1713-1802) in July 1765; he was the only son of the Bishop of Kildare and Meath, and she was his second wife. He was Lord of the Admiralty from 1747 to 1755, and a member of Parliament for over fifty years. He was created Baron Mendip in August 1794. Sarah Stanley and her daughters were close friends of Lord Lyttelton [Elizabeth Montagu, Queen of the Blues, Vol 2, pp186-7].
