Thomas Middleton
(b. 1742, Derby, Derbyshire, England – d. 1770, Kedleston, Derbyshire, England )
Gender: M
Thomas Middleton (c.1742-c.1770) was a clergyman serving in a range of curacies in Derbyshire and Yorkshire in the 1750s and 1760s, Bolsterstone (1754-5), Doveridge (1755-1769), and Kedleston from 1769 until his death in the early 1770s. During James Beattie and Elizabeth Montagu's negotiations with Robert Hay Drummond, Archbishop of York, over a placement for Beattie in the Church of England, Montagu refers to 'Dr Middleton's seat', presumably the curacy of Kedleston, as a potential position. Nothing came of this plan, however.
