Sarah Stanley was the elder daughter of Sir Hans Sloan. She married George Stanley, who committed suicide in 1734. They had three children: Hans (1721-1766), who became an MP and Lord of the Admiralty from 1757 to 1763, and two daughters, Anne (1723-1803) and Sarah. Sarah Stanley and her daughters were close friends of Lord Lyttelton [Elizabeth Montagu, Queen of the Blues, Vol 2, pp186-7].
